I've been away but planning
Hi, so I've been a couples months away because... well, I really wasn't into costuming anymore because I have found some difficulties in designing the says. At first I wanted the most accurate, but it seems kind of hard, and the other reason was because I was trying to study for getting into a college.
But now I want explain what I want to do with this blog, I want at least two post per month, one in english and another in portuguese (My mother language), and talk more about spirituality, and my other hand crafts besides historical costume.

Sewing Diary
Ok, so as a totally anxious person I spend almost two months doing only a sift/chemise (the discussion about the name is for another post). Then as was sewing down my crippling fear of stays made me slow down the sewing and don’t do nothing, but since now all I’m doing is felling down the seams i started my research about the regency stays.
The first thing I knew when I just was planning my adventure through regency era was that i wanted a long stays to push my belly in. (Now just a brief commentary, i feel better this way, I’m not saying that everyone with bigger bodies should hide them, you do you.)
And as with anything I like, I begin with being obsessed, and reading every blog shown on google, seeing every video about it on YouTube, and seeing every pattern, as long as it is for free. Now a had a vision about it, and was doing some doddles when I should be paying attention in class
So my plan was a long stay, with back lacing some light boning to shape better the waist, and as I had read cording around the chest to help with the regency “levitation”, and longer enough to tuck the belly in, but not too long that it would hurt when I sit. And at last thankfully to the chart on foundations revealed about 1800’s stays, I decided it was going to be only two layers of cotton.
Everyone has their own way of scrambling a pattern, and mine consist of seeing pictures, and trying to draw them as a pattern but small, then getting my measures and doing one my size, since “Patterns of fashion” it’s way too expensive for me to buy in reais (Brazilian currency), due to some shitty economy, but since my focus here isn’t on politics. Ok back to the stays chronicle, as I was drawing the small version, I got a problem, some stays that saw it was like only two fabric pieces (One in the front and another in the back) I really don’t know how to explain this but let’s just say that was to fabric rectangle, and another ones would be a lot of pieces around the waist-armpit area to better shape the waist, but for what I’ve read it wasn’t on the typical of the era to focus a lot on the waist, and since I really don’t know about corset construction, I'm still working on finding what they are about.
So, this is my first blog post ever and if you would like to see something here, or if you could help me with the whole stays situation please leave a comment below, and I'll try to update here more often.
